NoVA RPCV Fundraising Campaign
Subject: Save the date and help bring the Museum to D.C.!
Greetings NoVA RPCVs,
I’m pleased to share that the Museum of the Peace Corps Experience (MPCE) is preparing a landmark exhibition at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C., opening in October 2025 and running through early January 2026.
Peace by Design: Posters, Poetry, and the Spirit of Peace Corps will open Saturday, October 4 and you’re invited to the celebration from 5-7pm. Register here if you plan to attend.
This exciting collaboration bringing the citizen-to-citizen diplomacy of the Peace Corps to life here in D.C. is the first of two exhibits, with a second larger-scale exhibit in fall of 2026 as part of America 250 celebrations.
Advisor to the Museum Board of Directors and longtime Peace Corps champion Peter Deekle (Iran ’68–’70) has generously donated $5,000 to bring this exhibition to Washington, D.C.
Will you join him with a contribution of $100 to match Peter’s gift?
Together, we can ensure that the stories of Peace Corps Volunteers—and the communities they served—continue to inspire empathy, curiosity, and civic engagement for generations to come.
In the addition to fundraising efforts the Museum is seeking expressions of interest for:
-
Volunteer docents to support visiting school groups
-
Public programming ideas
-
Long-term volunteers interested join the Museum team
We hope to see many of you at the opening celebration Saturday, October 4th!
With gratitude,
LISA MARTIN (Estonia 96-98)
NoVa RPCVs President
