Advocacy Chair – Call for Expressions of Interest
NOVA RPCV is seeking a volunteer to serve as Advocacy Chair. This appointed Board position helps connect our Northern Virginia RPCV community with opportunities to support and strengthen Peace Corps, the Peace Corps community, and the values of international service.
The Advocacy Chair serves as NOVA RPCV’s lead point of contact on advocacy-related issues and helps members stay informed and engaged.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring key Peace Corps developments, including federal funding, legislation, leadership appointments, agency initiatives, and issues affecting Volunteers and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers.
- Providing regular advocacy updates to the NOVA RPCV Board and membership through board meetings, newsletters, and other communications.
- Serving as a liaison with the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) and staying connected with national advocacy priorities and opportunities.
- Representing NOVA RPCV, when available, at Peace Corps, NPCA, congressional, and community advocacy events.
- Sharing opportunities for members to engage with elected officials and support initiatives that strengthen Peace Corps and its mission.
- Coordinating with other Board members to highlight advocacy efforts through events, communications, and Third Goal activities.
The Advocacy Chair is appointed by the President and serves a two-year term as a member of the NOVA RPCV Board.

NOVA RPCV Board Volunteer – Community Service Chair
The Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (NOVA RPCV) Board is seeking a volunteer Community Service Chair to help coordinate local service activities and advance the Peace Corps Third Goal—sharing host country cultures and experiences with communities in the United States.
This role helps connect RPCVs with meaningful service opportunities while strengthening NOVA RPCV’s engagement across Northern Virginia.
The Community Service Chair would:
- Coordinate local volunteer projects (e.g., trail cleanups, service days, food drives)
- Identify and develop community partnerships with local organizations
- Support activities that promote the Peace Corps Third Goal
- Work with the Board to plan community-focused events and outreach
- Help recruit volunteers and track participation in service activities
- Collaborate with the Communications team to promote opportunities and share highlights
Examples of recent NOVA RPCV service activities include environmental cleanups, refugee support initiatives, and participation in local multicultural events.
This is a volunteer position with flexible time commitment depending on project activities.

NOVA RPCV Board Volunteer – Interim Membership Chair (Data & Systems)
NOVA RPCV is seeking a volunteer to serve as Interim Membership Chair (Data & Systems) while our current Membership Chair is deployed out of state over the next quarter.
This role helps maintain accurate membership records and supports the Board in managing membership data and engagement through our Connect+ system.
The Interim Membership Chair would:
- Review and approve membership requests in Connect+
- Maintain and periodically extract membership data for Board use
- Support membership outreach and renewal reminders
- Coordinate with the Communications team on membership updates
- Assist with membership data related to events and elections as needed
- Help identify opportunities to improve membership tracking and engagement
This role is well suited for someone who enjoys data organization, systems management, and community engagement.
This is a volunteer position and may be structured as an interim or co-chair role.
